1080 Sprint 2
1080 Sprint 2 is a groundbreaking workout device that delivers precise resistance training for professional athletes. It utilizes intelligent technology to provide a controllable resistance for a highly effective training. This second-generation product is much smaller than its predecessor and battery powered, making it portable and flexible.
Sprint 2 is the next generation training device from 1080. Unlike its predecessor it is battery powered and significantly smaller, which required a brand-new design. Our task was to create a housing that communicates the design ethos of the brand as well as make the device stable and robust despite its portable size.
Striving to fulfill the requirements of being portable as well as stable resulted in a robust and compact design. The cubic shape minimizes volume, and the oversized side bumpers give a robust appearance and protects the interior technology in rough environments.

Design process
In our design process we explored a wide range of shapes for the main housing of the Sprint 2. We wanted to give it a sense of direction, speed and power as well as having it express sturdiness and robustness. After discussing the concepts with the team at 1080 and adding the multi-purpose carry-handle we settled on a very simplistic approach. The cube shape with rounded corners is not only minimized in terms of volume, it also expresses robustness and stability. The hand sketches were translated into CAD-models and more definition and detail was given to the concepts. The final result is a design that expresses sturdiness and power with details that bring a high-tech feel to the mix. The wheels and handle provide high portability for professional users with high demands.
