About

A cross-disciplinary design team

Catino is a Stockholm based design engineering studio that helps you turn ideas into successful products. The studio was founded in 2012 and has since worked with clients from many different industries realizing their products. We are now a cross disciplinary power team with a tried and tested workflow that utilizes each other’s strengths and differences.

Our story

Catino was founded in 2012 with the vision to help other companies stimulate innovation and create great products. Our driving force has always been to design purposeful, clever and efficient products with the end user in mind.

The founders (Daniel, Jonatan and Petter) have their background in Industrial Design Engineering from Chalmers University of Technology, Göteborg, and the team has since expanded with more talents from various backgrounds.

With an accumulated 35+ years experience and over 50 successful projects we continue to explore challenges in new industries where we can apply our design thinking and keep delivering amazing products.

Over the years our services have expanded to include graphic design, which in 2020 became its own entity; mono (www.monostudio.se). Mono offers a wide variety of graphic design services such as, graphic identities, web design, annual reports, advertisements etc.

Our approach

Catino's cross-disciplinary approach to the design process means that we combine mechanical engineering, the general knowledge base of physics, mathematics and materials science, used to design, analyze and manufacture mechanical systems, with industrial design that takes into account more empathic values such as ergonomics, usability, form and function. The interconnection between these two sciences is called Design Engineering and gives us the tools to explore and innovate products that are both meaningful and beautiful. We see it as a strength that we are not experts in every new area we delve into, but rather have a fresh, unbiased view on its design challenges.

We love applying these skills on projects that reduce environmental impact or have health benefits.

Daniel Amosy
Human Factors

My biggest passion within design is creating things that are truly useful and purposeful. By focusing on ergonomics, usability and clarity we can achieve desirable results.

Eddie Cheng
System Developer

Curiosity and playfulness are with me in everything I do. Using my favourite set of tools including, science, mathematics, hardware and software development, I learn, develop and solve all challenges I come across.

Fredrik Landqvist
Design Engineer

When I design something I always strive to find the perfect mixture of aesthetics, usability and function. All of equal importance in order to achieve good design.

Fredrik Landqvist
Jonatan Lundén
Industrial Designer

I'm a creative and curious person, and design to me is a way of using these qualities to solve problems in new ways. I love 3D; everything from rendering concepts to exploring new ways of using it in the design process.

Jonatan Lundén
Jonna Mårtensson
Industrial Designer

When it comes to design I really like exploring new shapes and solving complex issues. I enjoy the whole design process but have a special love for visualization and developing the aesthetics of a product!

Jonna Mårtensson
Petter Polson
Design Engineer

I simply love problem solving! The great "puzzle" of function, usability, aesthetics and feasibility is always super challenging, but also so inspiring! Finding clever solutions to design problems and create great products is always what drives me.
