Melt
Melt is a pendant lamp that gives new life to the classic fluorescent tube, shaped in a soft, melted form. It hangs lightly from two thin wires, creating the illusion of floating in the air. With its mix of clean lines and organic curves, Melt adds personality and atmosphere to any space.
We reached out to Markslöjd with the idea of designing a pendant light for homes, offices, and public spaces. It needed to be easy to produce, easy to use, and different from anything else on the market. The goal was to create a light that would stand out, spark curiosity, and evoke emotion.
Melt is a playful take on the fluorescent tube, with a “melted” light shape that appears to float—thanks to hidden power in the suspension wires. It contrasts sharp fittings with soft curves, combining a clean look with structural strength. Perfect over a table, in a studio or public space, Melt adds warmth and character.

Design process
We started with quick sketches and simple models to try out shapes and sizes. Then we built prototypes, tested ideas, and used CAD tools to fine-tune the design. We also explored materials and surface finishes to get the right look and feel. Along the way, we solved challenges like hiding wires and making sure the lamp could be manufactured without problems.
Working closely with Markslöjd’s team was key. We reviewed samples, adjusted tools, and made small changes to improve quality and finish. The result is a pendant lamp that feels both familiar and fresh. Melt is the outcome of clear ideas, careful design, and good teamwork.
